BUYERS GUIDE
to Shamanic Drums
Investing in a shamanic drum, especially your first one, can be an overwhelming experience. There may seem a lot to choose from; sizes, skins, designs and makers. And a vast range in prices. How do you know which one is right for you and who to trust? I've put together this small guide to offer some small insight into some of the areas you may wish to consider.

I am always here if you have any further questions.
Topics you might like to consider when selecting a shamanic drum.
If you have any further questions not covered here, please feel free to message me. I am here to support heart to heart connections.
HEART to HEART
Absolutely my hands down best tip is go with the shamanic drum that calls you, the one that makes your heart expand, hairs stand on end, energy field tingle...
Drums absolutely call people, you feel that heart connection. Of course you need to consider some of the other topics listed here, but I encourage you not to over think your decision. Drop into your heart, trust your instincts.
SIZE
In my experience the most popular sizes of shamanic drum are 16 or 18 inch drums. Whilst weight can vary depending on the materials used, they are usually the most accommodating weight for drumming for long periods. 20 plus inch drums might suit a larger frame person, or someone wanting a deeper sound. Oval shaped drums have a good weight balancing proportion, especially if going larger.
ANIMAL SKIN
The spirit of a particular animal may call you. I tend to work primarily with deer skin as I am able to access sustainable suppliers and am particularly connected to them. I am more than happy to work with other animal hides also such as horse or buffalo and will do my absolute best to secure sustainable skins where possible.
SOUND
The size of the frame of your shamanic drum can influence the tone, also the thickness of the skin, and how the drum is laced; how much tension is used, can also affect the tone.
Its also worth noting that the tone of drums will change depending on the atmospheric conditions. The energies held by the drum also affect how the drum plays. I record the voice all my drums for sale to help you connect.
WOOD
Frames are available in a range of wood's. Mine tend to be willow, ash, maple, or oak. I always list the wood used in my drums, or if you are commissioning a drum you can specify all the materials to be included.
When birthing a drum I connect, honor and respect ALL the materials I use. All my drums are birthed ceremonially, in love, via the portal of my own heart.
