A cross design handle honoring the four directions splitting off into pairs totaling 8 'arms' reaching outwards holding infinity symbolism. This drum for me feels honest, open. Holding strong deep bonds. Beautiful patterning across the drum face, organic flowing movements. I always place the inside join in the hoop, in the South direction.
When I asked if there was a name to call her by I heard, Alara. I've looked up the meaning and many interpretations include: Water fairy or water spirit, creator of joy, ruler of all. Mythological folklore - Alara is a protector of water, and a magical being associated with nature. Beautiful.
The free beater that comes with this drum is made from a willow branch from my garden. The head is filled with sheep's wool and decorated with ethically sourced rabbit and more of the deer hide.

My shamanic drums for sale are made from sustainably sourced hide from either Scotland or the Netherlands. All my drums come with a free beater that usually has the same deer skin used in some way, to connect them. I always work in a sacred ceremonial way respecting all parts of the process.
