This 16 inch natural Scottish deer hide shamanic drum for sale has been crafted on a willow hoop and holds a new jade stone at the centre of this Goddess style handle.

BORN: 28 September at 14:37pm Slaithwaite

The drum holds a light scattering of dapple like patterns around the top and sides.  Moving up from the south towards the north face of the drum is a pattern that looks almost leaf like.

She holds a beautiful resonant sound and feels light, feminine and strong.

When I asked if there was a name I heard Lady Bay.  A quick search online indicates possible historical links to Nottingham and Australia.   I live in Nottinghamshire, and I live very close to the River Trent.

"For Lady Bay, Nottingham, England: Religious Connection: The most common theory suggests the name comes from a chapel to St. Mary (the Virgin Mary) on Trent Bridge in the 13th century, and the nearby bend in the river was known as "Our Lady's Bay". Lady of the Mercians: An even earlier theory points to Aethelflaeda, the Lady of the Mercians, who ordered a fortress built on the south side of the Trent in AD 910, with the name possibly evolving from "The Lady's Burgh". A Mare Named Lady Bay: A less common theory from 1815 suggests a plot of land near the river was pasture for a specific mare called Lady Bay."

This seems incredibly relevant in terms of my current location!  But I've shortened to Bay with the beautiful brown patterning in mind.  I feel a closeness to nature and cycles of life.

The beater is made from a fallen silver birch branch, chamois leather, filled with sheep's wool.  Includes hide from the drum and a fluff of English wild rabbit.

Is this spirit drum calling you?

  • My shamanic drums are made from sustainably sourced hides and wooden hoops.  All my drums come with a beater that usually has the same animal skin used in some way, to connect them.  I always work in a sacred ceremonial way respecting all parts of the process.
