Well this is an interesting one! So when I crafted him I felt presence, earth, nature, woodlands. I felt the leather of hand crafted armored clothing of warriors. Of living for and off the land.
This drum feels rich with the beauty of nature and life. Then when I asked ..what is your name, for the intention of listing you, I heard ..Nozarandaman! Wondering if I had just made up some random word in my head I went off to look up the word......and it exists! WTAF!
So apparently the words translates to mean 'Experimented' in English. I guess in a way the style of crafting is slightly experimental. I would probably use intuitive but can see a relationship here. The word is of Malagasy origin, which comes from the Austronesian family, brought to Madagascar around the 5th AD by settles from the Sunda Islands, now known as Indonesia. The language is most closely related to the Ma'anyan language of Borneo.
So that's quite an interesting connection dropped in there. Forming part of the multi-layered aspect of this drum. Just as we can have many aspects to our energetic make up or blue-print, so can drums.
The beater is made from a birch stick, some of the goat hide, and a chamoise head filled with sheep's wool.
